On July 16, 2026, the CPUGAD Technology Business Incubator (CPUGAD TBI) celebrated its Year 2 Culminating Activity at the Grand Xing Imperial Hotel in Iloilo City, highlighting two years of achievements in nurturing startups while unveiling its vision of advancing innovation and technology commercialization under the theme, โCPUGAD NEXT: Beyond the Nest.โ Now in its second year of operations, the culminating activity showcased CPUGAD TBIโs milestones, recognized the growth of its supported startups, and reaffirmed Central Philippine Universityโs (CPU) commitment to expanding the impact of homegrown innovations beyond the incubation stage. Established through the support and funding of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), CPUGAD TBI has been instrumental in strengthening CPUโs innovation ecosystem by providing incubation support, mentorship, and opportunities for technology commercialization. As the DOST funding support concludes, Central Philippine University will take on the responsibility of sustaining the incubatorโs operations to ensure the continued growth of startups and the advancement of technology commercialization initiatives.

Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream without the burden of hunger. Guided by this belief, Project ETC (Education, Technology, and Community) continues to create brighter futures by investing in children, empowering communities, and creating opportunities through education, technology, and meaningful partnerships. As a non-profit organization, Project ETC remains committed to improving the lives of schoolchildren and their families through sustainable community-based needs. Founded by Dr. Anecita Seisa and Mr. Joaquin Seisa, together with their children, Mr. Tristan Seisa and Ms. Andrea Seisa, Project ETC is anchored on the belief that education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty. Through its three pillarsโEducation, Technology, and Communityโthe organization has reached more than 10,000 schoolchildren through school-based feeding, educational assistance, and community development initiatives that have contributed to improved nutrition, attendance, classroom participation, and academic performance. Since 2019, Project ETC has strengthened its mission through its partnership with Central Philippine University through its Community Engagement and Service-Learning Center (CPU CESLC). Building on years of successful collaboration, the partnership expanded its commitment by adopting Iloilo River Plains Integrated School in Brgy. Lanit, Jaro, Iloilo City, Badiang Elementary School in Brgy. Badiang, New Lucena, Iloilo, and Tapikan Elementary School in Brgy. Tapikan, San Joaquin, Iloilo under a five-year community engagement initiative (SY 2026โ2030). On July 3, dedicated CPU volunteers, together with representatives from CPU CESLC, visited the three adopted schools to deliver and officially turn over a monthโs supply of carbohydrate-rich food staples. More than delivering food, the volunteers brought hope and encouragement while reaffirming the Universityโs commitment to serving children alongside its community partners. For School Year 2026โ2027, the feeding program benefits 758 learners across the three partner schoolsโ495 from Iloilo River Plains Integrated School, 130 from Badiang Elementary School, and 133 from Tapikan Elementary School. Every bona fide learner from Kindergarten to Grade 6 benefits from the program, regardless of nutritional status, through the collective efforts of school administrators, feeding coordinators, teachers, parents, local government units, and volunteers who prepare and serve nutritious meals each school day. The initiative advances CPU CESLCโs Program ERNESTโEducation, Resource Utilization, Nurturance, Environment, Social Welfare, and Technology Transferโthrough meaningful community engagement. It also contributes to the attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Together, Project ETC, the Seisa family, CPU CESLC, partner schools, local government units, parents, and volunteers, and community stakeholders continue to demonstrate how collaboration can transform lives. Through every shared meal, every act of service, and every partnership forged, they creating brighter futures for every child โ one learner, one family, and one community at a time.

Centino, receive the Department of Social Welfare and Development Sustainable Livelihood Program (DSWD-SLP) funding check facilitated by Project Development Officer II (Implementing) Ms. Haidee B. Manato. July 7, 2026 โ The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), granted a Seed Capital Fund (SCF) amounting to โฑ600,000.00 to the Arukahik Sewers SLP Association to strengthen livelihood initiatives for Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries. The activity was facilitated by Ms. Haidee B. Manato, Project Development Officer II of DSWD-SLP. The financial assistance will be utilized for the improvement and upgrading of the CPU Arukahik Tailoring Shop and Training Center, located on the third floor of Johnson Hall at Central Philippine University (CPU). The grant will support the acquisition of additional sewing machines, edging and embroidery machines, mannequins, and other essential tailoring equipment to enhance the Centerโs training and production capabilities. The CPU Arukahik Tailoring Shop and Training Center is a social development initiative established by the Community Engagement and Service-Learning Center (CESLC) to empower DSWDโs 4Ps beneficiaries through sustainable livelihood opportunities. As the Universityโs response to the governmentโs call for inclusive poverty alleviation, the Center provides skills development, livelihood support, and aftercare interventions to help the beneficiaries transition toward greater self-sufficiency. The initiative is also anchored on CPUโs CANOPY framework, which stands for Cultivating Alliances and Nurturing Opportunities for Purposeful Yields. As a transformative institutional initiative, CANOPY strengthens partnerships with government agencies, non-government organizations, and community stakeholders to create meaningful opportunities and address the social, economic, and developmental needs of partner communities. As part of this commitment, the CPU Arukahik Tailoring Shop and Training Center provides free basic sewing and tailoring training to individuals seeking to develop practical skills, with priority given to 4Ps beneficiaries. Through this initiative, the University advances volunteerism, community empowerment, and sustainable livelihood development. The establishment and operation of the Center reflects CPUโs commitment to Republic Act No. 9418, or the Volunteer Act of 2007, which promotes volunteerism for national development. In recognition of CPUโs efforts in advancing volunteerism and community-based social development, the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev), through the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA), acknowledged the Universityโs initiatives. This commitment was further strengthened through the Memorandum of Understanding signed with DSWD on May 30, 2026.
