Central Philippine University (CPU), through the CPUGAD Technology Business Incubator (CPUGAD TBI), strengthened its innovation partnership with Filamer Christian University (FCU) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on September 25, 2026, at CPU.
The partnership forms part of NEST Connect, CPUGAD TBIโs platform for strengthening collaboration and strategic networking among higher education institutions (HEIs) in Western Visayas and beyond, with particular emphasis on building stronger innovation linkages among the regionโs private HEIs.
NEST Connect creates opportunities for institutions to work together in startup development, technology commercialization, research collaboration, capacity development, and entrepreneurial education.
Through the program, CPU envisions a more connected innovation ecosystem where private HEIs can co-create solutions, share knowledge and resources, jointly develop institutional capabilities, co-incubate startups and research-based spin-offs, and create pathways for technologies and innovations to reach communities and markets.
The CPUโFCU partnership brings this vision into action by opening opportunities for collaborative programs, knowledge and resource sharing, research and innovation initiatives, entrepreneurial capacity building, startup development, and technology commercialization.
More than establishing institutional linkages, NEST Connect seeks to build an active community of higher education institutions working together to help strengthen the innovation ecosystem of Western Visayas. By connecting institutional expertise, research capabilities, facilities, mentors, innovators, entrepreneurs, and startup communities, the program seeks to transform individual institutional strengths into shared opportunities for innovation and regional development.
CPU, through CPUGAD TBI, welcomes more private higher education institutions in Western Visayas to connect, collaborate, and co-create through NEST Connect.
By sharing knowledge and resources, opening networks, co-developing programs, and co-incubating startups and research-based spin-offs, higher education institutions can collectively create more opportunities for researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and communities across the region.
